After several days in Boca Raton at Wealth Management EDGE, one theme consistently surfaced in conversations on the conference floor, breakout sessions and on the main stage: growth.
But the discussion wasn't necessarily about growing assets under management or M&A expansion. Instead, industry leaders focused on how sustainable growth is driven by something much more foundational. Building trust with clients, investing in the right partnerships and embracing technology that enhances the client experience rather than replacing it.
Here are a few of the conversations that stood out.
Your Brand Matters More Than Ever
One of the key takeaways was that successful firms aren't chasing broad recognition–they're building meaningful relationships with the audiences they serve.
That message was front and center during Gregory Co-Owner & President Joe Anthony's panel, View from the Top: How Industry Leading CMOs are Driving Growth, where he spoke with marketing leaders about how their firms are approaching growth in an increasingly competitive financial services landscape.
Kate Ardini, Chief Marketing Officer at Mariner, captured the importance of the industry with a simple reminder: "What's more important than your money, your family and your future?" In an industry built on life's most significant financial decisions, trust remains the foundation of every client relationship.
The discussion also explored how leading firms are thinking about brand visibility as they continue to grow. Angela Giombetti, Chief Marketing Officer at Wealthspire, reflected on her long-held belief that she never wanted to see the firm's name "on the side of a blimp."
Her perspective changed once Wealthspire engaged in a partnership with DXDT Racing, a North Carolina-based motorsports team. As part of the partnership, Wealthspire’s logo is prominently displayed on the side of the team’s custom Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Giombetti shared that while it initially felt outside of its traditional marketing approach, she explained that the sponsorship wasn't about reaching everyone. It was about creating a memorable hospitality experience for existing clients at race events while thoughtfully introducing the brand to future prospects within a carefully curated environment.
Angela’s story underscored an important takeaway from the session: building familiarity and trust remain far more valuable than pursuing visibility just for visibility's sake.
The Best Partnerships Feel Like Part of the Team
Another standout conversation centered on the evolving relationship between financial services firms and their external partners.
When asked about how organizations can get the most value from agency relationships, Tara Ryan, Chief Marketing Officer at Cerity Partners, offered a perspective that extends well beyond marketing. "Treat them like a member of your team. They can only do the best work if they are under the hood alongside you."
It's an important reminder that the strongest partnerships are built on transparency, communication, and shared objectives. Whether you’re working with communications professionals, creative agencies or other strategic partners, organizations generate better outcomes when those partners understand the broader business and not just the individual project in front of them.
As financial services firms continue investing in growth, collaboration is increasingly becoming a competitive advantage.
Technology Should Strengthen Human Relationships
Technology also remained a focal point throughout the conference, though the conversation has certainly evolved.
Rather than asking if firms should adopt new technologies, many sessions focused on how those tools can improve efficiency while preserving the personal relationships that define this industry.
In a session on leveraging technology in estate planning, Alex Hargrove, CEO of Hargrove Firm, discussed how digital tools are helping create greater transparency and efficiency throughout the planning process. The emphasis wasn't on replacing advisors, it was on giving both advisors and clients better information and a smoother experience.
That same philosophy surfaced across multiple conversations during the week. Technology delivers its greatest value when it empowers professionals to spend more time advising clients and less time navigating administrative complexity.
Looking Ahead
While discussions ranged from tax policy and estate planning to marketing strategy and technology, the common thread throughout Wealth Management EDGE was clear.
The firms best positioned for long-term success are investing in more than products and platforms. They're investing in trusted relationships with clients, employees and strategic partners.
As the financial services industry continues to evolve, growth will increasingly belong to organizations that combine innovative thinking with authentic communication and a client-first mindset.
At Gregory, we're proud to partner with firms navigating this changing landscape, helping them communicate their expertise, strengthen their brands and build the trusted relationships that continue to drive long-term growth.
